AdzAquatics was founded in 2023 by Adam Thompson
AdzAquatics started with a few rehomed clownfish and a lifelong interest in animals. When our founder, Adam, successfully raised his first clutch, a small hobby became the beginning of something much bigger.
Seeing fish he had bred, devlop and grow on and finally end up thriving in other aquariums inspired him to take breeding further. He spent the years that followed developing his knowledge, refining his methods and expanding the facilitie, building AdzAquatics around the work he enjoyed most.
Today, we specialise in breeding and supplying captive-bred clownfish and marine livestock exclusively to the UK aquatic trade. Working directly with shops allows us to concentrate on raising our livestock, developing our breeding lines and supporting the retailers who bring our fish to their customers.
We want our stockists to know the people behind their livestock. That means direct contact, honest conversations about availability and advice based on our own experience caring for and breeding the animals we supply. As we grow, building strong relationships with the shops we work with remains a priority.
Our commitment to captive breeding has shaped the business from the beginning. We do not sell wild-caught animals. By producing livestock in captivity, we aim to give stores and hobbyists more choice without relying on collection from natural habitats.
What began with one small group of clownfish continues to grow, but the ambition remains the same: to raise quality captive-bred marine life and make it available through aquatic shops across the UK.

The Mission
At AdzAquatics, our mission is to help change the aquarium industry for the better. We are committed to producing and selling strictly captive-bred livestock, proving that incredible aquariums and vivarium's can be created without removing animals from the wild.
Today, the marine aquarium trade still relies heavily on wild collection, with an estimated 90% of saltwater aquarium fish sourced directly from the ocean. Many of these animals face stress, injury, and disease during capture and transport, which can lead to high mortality and weaker animals entering the hobby.
We believe conservation should not only become a priority once a species is at risk of extinction. When responsible alternatives such as captive breeding already exist, choosing those methods represents a proactive and ethical approach to the future of the industry.
Clownfish are a great example of what is possible. Although they are not endangered, they are among the most traded marine fish in the hobby. By breeding them responsibly, we can provide a sustainable alternative that protects wild populations while still allowing hobbyists to enjoy these incredible animals.
Our goal is to continue expanding the number of species we breed and to produce enough captive-bred livestock to make a real difference in the industry.
